Bioluminescence – Intertidal Walk
with Intertidal Walks

A guided night walk across the exposed seabed with UV torches, revealing the creatures of Jersey's rock pools after dark.
Night walks in the intertidal zone reveal some of the creatures that come out under the cover of darkness. Walkers explore tidal pools close to shore and see them in a new light. Duration: 2–2.5 hrs. Terrain: easy to moderate. Distance: 1–3 km.
The walk steps off the beach and onto the seabed exposed by the falling tide. For a few hours, participants can set aside everyday concerns and focus on simply being there, under the night sky, surrounded by highly adapted creatures, with their senses coming alive.
Wellies are recommended to keep feet dry, particularly during the cooler months, along with clothing suited to the weather. Wellies and waterproofs are available free of charge and must be reserved during the booking process. UV torches are also provided to help visitors get the most out of these night-time excursions. Group sizes are limited to minimise any damage caused during the walk. Age restrictions apply. No dogs are permitted.
More information about the walks and bookings can be found online.
