Icho to Seymour – Intertidal Walk
with Intertidal Walks

A rare guided extreme-low-tide walk across the seabed to Icho and Seymour Towers, for fit walkers aged 16 and over.
Visitors follow the tide out and walk across the seabed to two well-known landmarks off the south-east coast of the Island, Icho Tower and Seymour Tower. The walk is only possible at extreme low tides and is not for the faint-hearted. It heads out to where the wild things live, and those taking part will be among the few to do so in 2027.
Distance 6-8km.
Duration 4-5 hours.
Moderate pace; terrain moderate.
Walkers experience big skies and watch a vast expanse of seabed appear as the tide ebbs away from the shore, revealing what is usually underwater. It is a bucket-list walk for locals and visitors alike and is not possible every year. The rugged, rocky intertidal zone is a very special and fragile place, and the walk is not for everyone. Participants must be in good health and able to walk unaided at a moderate pace for several hours, over sand, gravel and rocks and through water. The surface is uneven and at times unstable, and there are no amenities except at the start and end of the walk. The walk is not suitable for children under 16, and no dogs are permitted.
