Intertidal Walk to Seymour Tower

A three-hour guided walk across the seabed at low tide to a 225-year-old tower standing almost 2km off Jersey's south-east coast.

Visitors step off the shore into the rocky intertidal zone off the south-east corner of the island and walk out to this landmark, which has stood like a sentinel almost 2km offshore for over 225 years. Duration: 3 hrs. Terrain: easy to moderate.

Built on a small islet called L'Avarizon, Seymour Tower has withstood one of the highest tidal ranges in the world for centuries. Cut off by rapidly rising tides, this is an extreme environment, and one where humans cannot compete with nature. An experienced guide leads the group across the seabed through shallow streams and tidal pools to the Tower, and back to shore with a different perspective of the intertidal zone.

Walkers should dress for the weather, as it can be chillier than expected. Wellies are recommended, especially in the cooler months, and old trainers or sea shoes work well in summer. Wellies and waterproofs are available free of charge and must be reserved during the booking process. No dogs are permitted. More information about the walks is available online.
