Intertidal Walk to the Karame Beacon
with Intertidal Walks

A demanding low-tide walk past Seymour Tower to a remote reef beacon, exploring Jersey's wild intertidal zone and the creatures that survive there.
Accessible only on the lowest tides of the year, this is a bucket-list walk for those interested in the vast expanse of rocky intertidal zone off the coast of Jersey. Walkers discover some of the creatures that can survive the harsh and extreme environments created by one of the largest tidal ranges in the world. Duration: 4-5 hours. Distance: 5-6 km. Terrain: easy to moderate. Restrictions apply.
The walk is not suitable for children. A good level of fitness and the ability to keep up a good walking pace over several hours are required. The route heads out past Seymour Tower to the Karame Beacon. Little more than a shipping beacon, this remote structure topped with a 'K' warns ships of the dangerous reef called the Violet Bank, and it is a wild place. Walkers can enjoy the quiet and tune into the sounds of the natural world, and should be prepared to walk through water to get the most out of the experience.
Wellies and waterproofs are available to use free of charge and must be reserved during the booking process. Further information about the walk and booking can be found online.
