Moonlight Seymour – Intertidal Walk

A torchlit night walk across the rocky intertidal to Seymour Tower, under moon and stars, spotting creatures revealed by the low tide.

Walkers step off the shore under the light of the moon and cross the lunar-like rocky intertidal to the iconic landmark of Seymour Tower, which stands like a sentinel more than 1 mile (2km) off the south-east coast of the island.

On moonlit nights, the walk out to Seymour can be spectacular, and it is a bucket-list walk for locals and visitors alike. On clear nights the Milky Way stands out overhead, and with luck there may be shooting stars too. Walking like a heron, the group uses torches to spot some of the many animals that go about their lives under the cover of darkness when the tide goes out. Participants must be able to walk unaided for several hours over sand and gravel and through water. The walks are not suitable for children under 16, and no dogs are permitted.
