with Jersey Walk Adventures

On the Visitor Map
Seaweed Foraging: Wild Vegetables of The Ocean

A guided coastal walk learning to spot, gather and cook with some of the 200-plus seaweed species found around Jersey.

Seaweeds come in many types—green, brown, delicate, bold, and yes, sometimes a bit smelly—but they are often overlooked. These interesting marine plants are full of flavour, nutrients, and cooking possibilities. From sushi rolls and miso soup to jellies and sweet treats, seaweeds are key ingredients in dishes worldwide. You’ll also learn about Jersey’s long tradition of seaweed gathering. Private walks are available on request, depending on low tide times - wellington boots can be hired. Visit our website for dates, times, and to book online.
