Liberation Day

Jersey's national day on 9 May marks 82 years since liberation from German occupation, with parades, re-enactments, exhibitions and local entertainment.

This year marks the 82nd anniversary of Jersey's Liberation, commemorating the island's freedom from German occupation during the Second World War on 9 May 1945. Through events, exhibitions and reflections, the occasion offers a chance to connect generations and remember the significance of peace and freedom in Jersey.

In Jersey, Liberation Day (Jèrriais: Jour d'la Libéthâtion) is celebrated each year on 9 May to mark the end of the Nazi German Occupation during the Second World War. It is celebrated as Jersey's national day, and 2027 marks 82 years of liberation.

Visitors can expect street parades, re-enactments, local entertainment and more. Further information about the event will be published in the coming months.
