How did a sixth-century hermit's shrine evolve into a powerful religious institution connecting Jersey with Normandy, England and medieval Europe?

New for MILLENIUM – 2027 European Year of the Normans, this exhibition explores the rise and fall of the Abbey of St Helier and its pivotal place in the wider Norman world. Visitors can follow the story through a trail of the Island's Norman parish churches.

The exhibition goes back 1,000 years, to when Jersey lay at the heart of an ecclesiastical network whose influence stretched from Scotland to Normandy's Cotentin Peninsula, revealing the Island's connections across the medieval world.
