Wace: The Norman Conquests
at Freedom Centre

Live storytelling and illustration follow Jersey-born poet Wace through Viking legends and the Battle of Hastings, part of the 2027 European Year of the Normans.
Wace: Norman Conquests is a live performance celebrating Jersey's Norman heritage as part of MILLENIUM 2027 – European Year of the Normans. Inspired by the work of Jersey-born poet Maître Wace, the production brings the epic tale of William the Conqueror to life.
Blending storytelling, live illustration and medieval adventure, the performance follows Wace as he races to complete his Roman de Rou – an account of the Norman dynasty that shaped the history of England, Normandy and the Channel Islands.
Suited to history enthusiasts, families and curious minds alike, the show offers an entertaining journey through Viking legends, the Battle of Hastings and Jersey's enduring connection to the Norman world. As one of many events taking place across Europe in 2027, it is a chance to celebrate the island's shared heritage through creativity, culture and storytelling.
More information about the event is available on the organisers' website.
